I am a dealer on a river boat. They refused to put padding
under the carpet when they replaced the carpet. We work on
steel floors which is the hardest surface known to mankind. As a
result my knees hurt, my arch in my foot is falling, my varicose
veins are popping out of my body, I feel like I have knives going
through my ankles. This is not to mention the burning sensation
that I have in my left arm.
I understand that people who work on ships have knee
problems. Have you heard of these types of complaints, and if so,
could you elaborate on them for me. The other problem is
that the floors on the ships are not even, which means that we are
standing on one leg or the other, or leaning in different
directions that are abnormal to the structure of the body. The
back of my hips have been hurting for a couple of years.
Last week I had a man threaten that if I didn't give him a
good hand that he would light up his cigar and blow smoke in my
face. I need to know if all these complaints are normal to
dealers?

Response***
Unfortunately,
these problems are all too common. The sad part is that they are
so easy to correct.....if management chose to do so, but don't
hold your breath.
You need to contact OSHA immediately. Just show them
a copy of this letter and ask them if they can help. By the way,
if you so desire, they will keep your name confidential if you
decide to file a complaint. Don't forget to tell them you
want anonymity. Casino bosses are very vindictive people.
