"Didn't pass probation" ....another lie!

At the Sahara Hotel and Casino I've observed a few labor conditions I consider unfair. As you know the Sahara is all dollar tables and because of the tokes it's very hard to keep dealers. But what I've seen management doing is keeping these dealers just a few days before their probation is up and then let them go.

"Didn't pass probation." That's a famous line in this town, which, as we all know, is nothing short of a filthy lie. Anyway, a lot of immigrants flow through this casino and the managers find it easy to get away with this deception. It is obvious the benefits the casino derives from this procedure, but is it right?

No, it's not right. Years ago the Silver Slipper was famous for doing that. 89 days, and out the door....

Casinos use this foul trick and also the extra board as a means of denying workers their health insurance and other fringes. As long as they can maximize their profits, they say to hell with the human cost.

Just add that to the long list of reasons why the dealers in this town desperately need to unionize. Remember, all dealers should pitch in and give the TWU all the help they can.

Let me know if you want to assist in the organizing effort.
