Dear
NFGE,
I have been a dealer now for 5 yrs. I had my break-in
at Harrah's Reno, and learned the ropes thru them. I know not all
clubs can regulate the same standards, but, recently I decided to
leave the "Big House", and give a smaller
"local" club a chance.
For six months now, to the day, I have seen some pretty
cruel interactions between the pit bosses and dealers. I don't
understand why we are being punished for doing our job. I have
witnessed more than one occasion of a certain dealer feeling so
much heat for dropping a large sum of tokes in a
short time, that she had to go home--crying--no less, another will
pass her tokes off to another dealer to drop in the box, so as not
to let the pit boss see how much she is dropping.
I, on the other hand, do not let the "heat"
effect my performance on the floor, I have seen bigger action than
this club could imagine. I have been asked to go against the house
policies by my pit boss. She has demanded me to "strip"
my deck at least once every time I shuffle. If I drop any
significant amount of money, it's off to the "Penalty
Box" I go!! (The "dead" roulette game). I
have noticed this pattern forming at work, and I am concerned, not
only for the livelihood of the dealers, but for the risk of heart
attacks by the floor personnel!!!
I don't think it is fair, I found out that the floor
people receive a % of the winnings based on quarterly, and it
seems they are "sweating" the money as if it was their
own. I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to gaming
regs., but I know it is not fair to the players or the dealers,
when a
boss is changing the cards 2-3 times per hour when the tray is
getting dumped, and changing the dealers every 20 minutes to beat
the winners.
Am I out of line for feeling this way? I think it could be
classified as harassment of some sort. I am not bragging when I
say that I support the team on a daily basis, and am at the brunt
of this "heat" regularly! It is really getting hard to
deal with, every dealer I work with is petrified to stand up for
themselves, and I do not wish to go down that road as they did. I
am doing all to well to leave this club, but refuse to fall to the
heat, what should, or could I do?
Sincerely,
# 55-Reno
