Yes..... Monte Carlo dealers let us down
by voting no against the Union.. but it is the first battle not
the war that has been lost. After getting 75% of the
dealers there to sign a Union representation card because they
thought they were being underpaid and taken advantage of, they
turn around and vote against the Union....Why? Because of
intimidation; because of the threat of losing their jobs; losing
their 401(k)'s, and other benefits.
Well let me tell
you, if you thought about these things before you voted against
the Union because management promised you a new working
environment for the better, think again. What's to stop them now
from getting rid of you for supporting the Union and then start
all over with good little dealers who are told what, where and
when to do it.
Personally I think the dealers at Monte
Carlo have signed their own death warrants.
It is amazing to me knowing the amount of control we can have as a
group if we all stuck together. But apparently its true. We
as a group are famous for caving in to pressure and fear and
intimidation by management.
I hope the next election shows
overwhelming support for the Union so we can move forward and
start building the momentum that we have lost.... As for the 90
odd dealers who voted yes for the Union, hold your heads up high
knowing you tried to do your part and were not intimidated by
management.
But for those of
you who voted against the Union, I hope you realize what you have
done...now you will have to worry about job security, scheduling
and benefits because now there is no guarantee of anything.
In closing I only hope the Las Vegas Hilton and
the Luxor on Jan.20th will tell management it is time to listen to
us, and pay us a fair wage, let us take care of our own tokes,
honor seniority, and provide job security by voting for the UNION
so we can attain all these things like the other people we work
with who have a Union contract.
Thanks.......
