Hey dealers in Joliet, it's no different here. We are not paid for a medical LOA unless we carry disability insurance on ourselves, which the company then tries to screw you on. The Rio (Harrah's) came out with new insurance this year and tried to pass off disability pay as 60% of base salary only-no tips (below the poverty level).

They are reevaluating this after every dealer with disability that's been paying into it called them to complain. It's the same with our life insurance. Base salary only. I have never understood this because we pay the extra premium if we want to carry more insurance.

The problem is that there are a lot of scared people. They are scared that the
casino will fire them or give them a hard time for being pro-union. One of the casinos even had their floor people going around asking dealers if they were pro or con union.

Just a little illegal but they don't seem to care because they wield all the power. Our 2nd and 3rd elections are today and I am praying that these dealers vote for us and not the companies they work for.  Wish us luck!
