There is nothing wrong with pooling tips as long as there is some agreement on it among those you are splitting those tips with. But to blindly like tip pooling is to invite management to infringe on your tips. The courts have ruled that an employer may force you into tip pooling but stipulated that they may do so only if they do not benefit from the tip pooling.

But the courts at one time also said an employer can not take any part of an employees tips. How can they not be taking if they are forcing dealers into this tip pool? Casinos seemed to get around this small roadblock rather easily. What stops them from befitting from your tips when so many dealers seem to like this tip pooling arrangement?  As long as you don't get too upset they will slowly infringe on your tips cutting them more ways, adding in new games that yield low tips and add employees that do not even receive tips as a part of your tip pool. Of course they wouldn't, they couldn't.....or would they? Could they?

To get the best tables in a keep your own tip job would be a task but a task worth while. Something to look forward to as you gain in experience and as you gain favor through years of valuable service. The reason dealers used to bribe the scheduler was because you could make enough in tips to afford it. Now, forced into splitting our tips with and however management dictates, we just try to make a living. What will it be like in ten years?
