All gaming employees nationwide are
eligible to become registered members of the IUGE. Casino dealers, floorpersons, boxpeople, and all retired gaming employees are eligible for membership.
All membership lists are kept in the strictest confidence and are
available only to the Board of Directors of the IUGE.
Cost of membership is $35 / year for gaming employees working in
non-union casinos. For those gaming employees working in union casinos, membership is
automatic and registration is paid through union dues.
Once becoming a registered member of the IUGE, any member is free to
initiate an inquiry with the IUGE regarding establishing a union presence in their casino.
Establishing a union is a difficult and demanding task, and success in forming a union is
ultimately determined by the level of support given by the casino workers themselves.
The benefits of union membership for you are many, but the most
important is being able to work with a contract and not as a free agent. It allows you to
join together with others to achieve a more rewarding and secure career in the gaming
industry. It allows you to shed your fear of being unjustly fired, and replace it with the
confidence that comes from knowing you are not alone.
