Hello there!!

Please have your members check out the newly ratified contracts of
MGM-Detroit, and the Motor City Casino-Detroit.

Contract was ratified on Tuesday, September 17, 2000.
Included in the contract, negotiated by the UAW and the Detroit Casino
Council, was increased wages, benefits, and a retirement package.

This is a first contract, and by all means was not perfect, but there was a
lot of hard work and effort put forth by the Casino Council, along with
management of both casinos.

Employees now have wage parity between both casinos, a company matched 401K plan, better benefits, paid sick days, and most importantly a grievance
procedure in place to protect the employees from the "at will" policy that
was in place prior to the contract. Now employees have some measure of
security in the workplace.

We hope that this "ground-breaking" contract will benefit both sides, and be
a beacon to others considering a union environment in their workplace.

Good luck to everyone with the TWU...and remember, your union is only as
strong as it's membership...that means YOU!!
Be Proactive in your fight to maintain a stable and healthy management - employee relationship!!

I know I speak for everyone in Detroit, who say we support you in your
efforts!!!!!!! It worked for us, and it can work for you!!!
