What is a "Favor-Seeking-Dealer"?

It is a newly created term for a casino dealer who fronts for management, and their union-buster advisors, and promotes and argues their position to other dealers with the purpose of defeating a union drive.

Federal law prevents casino bosses from inhibiting a union drive in any way. They try to beat the system by using lies, threats of economic reprisals, intimidation and distortions to try to neutralize and defeat a union effort. They attempt to circumvent the law by using favor-seeking-dealers to do their bidding for them.

By dressing their wolves in sheep's clothing they hope to gain two advantages:
·    One, that they insulate themselves from charges of unlawful activity --- "after all, dealers are allowed to speak to other dealers," they will say.
·    And two, dealers are more likely to accept an argument against the union that comes from another dealer rather than one that comes directly from management.

We ask that you examine the false arguments they use carefully and at the same time look at the "dealers" who are offering them up to you. You probably know these people; they are pretty easy to spot. They are the same ones that have always had a very cozy relationship with management and have always received treatment a little bit more equal than other dealers receive.

The arguments they will offer will be flimsy and transparent and will not hold up. They will try to convince you that you will be better off putting yourselves in management's hands rather than by standing together to seek the protections and benefits that come with union membership.

Nothing could be farther from the truth!

We do not want to use religion to promote our cause, but I could not resist this pearl of wisdom that comes from the New Testament:

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."

                        (St. Matthew)
